Kenpo X is so much fun. Even though I was dog-tired from Legs & Back with Ab Ripper X, Tony Horton’s enthusiasm for this workout is simply infectious. This is probably the only workout in the program (so far) that I am consciously thankful that I perform this in the privacy of my home. I never considered myself to be particularly uncoordinated, but Oh. Mah. Gawd. I still can’t seem to get the Star Block move, and odd numbered combinations really mess me up! Jab/Cross/Hook is evil! If I don’t really focus, I find that I start alternating arms.
I’ve noticed that past couple of days, I’ve been feeling slow and maybe a little sluggish. Today I read an interesting article on the Team Beachbody website: “Sore, Hungry, and Slow: 3 Signs That Show Your Program is Working” that addressed this feeling directly. It seems that when you start working the fast-acting muscle fibers, it takes longer to recover and you start to feel like you’re slowing down. I guess it’s a good thing that next week is Recovery Week!
Food was okay today – mostly leftovers and light snacking. I did have my shakeology GreenBerry smoothie in the afternoon, because I just didn’t want to skip a day. I drank plenty of water today and got lots of rest (I took 2 naps today!).
I can hardly believe that after tomorrow, I’ve completed three weeks of P90X. Next week will be interesting, because there is one new workout – Core Synergistics. Judging from the name, I’m going to assume that is where the abs focus in “Recovery and Abs Focus Phase” comes. In any case, I’m looking forward to stretching my slow muscles tomorrow and getting ready for a different week.
