P90X: Day 59

Shoulders & Arms with Ab Ripper X
Doubles

Workout:
Whew! Today was a lot of fun working on my arms, especially my triceps and the endless push ups. But, I really want to talk about something else.

I’m in my third and final year of an Automotive Technology program at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA. My first day back to school was yesterday and I wanted to describe my typical day, Tuesday through Friday.

My Schedule:

5:00A – Wake up, make the bed
5:10A – Get dressed, fix hair
5:20A – Go downstairs, make Shakeology smoothie for breakfast
5:40A – Go back upstairs, finish grooming ritual (brush teeth, makeup, jewelry, shoes), check to-do list, grab phone, bag and sweater
6:00A – Go downstairs, grab bottled water and lunch, get in car and drive to Starbucks, order green tea
6:12A – Drive to school
6:20A – Arrive at school, punch in (on time clock), put my belongings on desk, talk to friends
7:25A – Go back to class
7:29A – Class begins; take small breaks during the day. Drink 2 liters of water and eat an apple or two for a snack.
12:10P – Class ends, punch out
12:30P – Drive home, park in garage, put lunch box back in freezer
12:45P – Change into workout clothes, put on running shoes, grab phone and head out to the park to run
1:20P – Arrive back home, run upstairs to do P90X workout after grabbing another bottle of water
2:30P – Jump in the shower
3:00P – Change into work clothes, run downstairs and make lunch
3:30P – Clean up lunch dishes, check emails, make phone calls, put away laundry, put away dishes, other chores as necessary
4:00P – Drive to work
4:30P – After navigating through traffic, arrive and help out
7:00P – Get home from work
7:10P – Go for evening walk
7:45P – Get home, start dinner
8:10P – Eat dinner
8:30P – Clean up dishes and kitchen, watch some TV
9:30P – Get ready for the next day, prepare to-do list
10:00P – Go to bed

Although my day is busy, I’m still managing to fit in physical activity. It can be done – you just need to love yourself enough to commit to it and disciplined enough to follow through.

To give you an idea of what I ate today:
Shakeology smoothie (Shakeology, 1 banana, 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk and ice)
2 apples
3+ liters of water
1 large cup of green tea (venti at Starbucks)
Green salad
1 Chicken fajita (whole grain tortilla, 3oz. chicken, salsa, grilled peppers and onions, lime juice)
Lemon chicken and broccoli for dinner.

I was full! Plus, I managed to get through my day without added sugar or fat. It is possible, it just requires mindfulness and planning. If I can do this, anyone can!
