P90X: Day 8

Chest & Back, Ab Ripper X

Workout:
I completely understand why people give up on exercise programs. Yes, I’m still achy. It’s difficult to know what’s an old ache and what’s a new ache. However, despite the aches and stiffness, I can feel some improvement. Push-ups were easier today, though I have lots of room for improvement in my range of motion. I still struggle with incline push-ups, but diamond push-ups seemed easier.

Ab Ripper X was even a bit easier in some respects. I can keep up through In and Outs and Bicycles (both forward and reverse) but drop off until we get to Hip Rock n Raise, where I can “bring it” a bit better. I’m still completely uncoordinated when it comes to the V Roll Ups, but can recover for the Mason Twists. I’m considering adding more abdominal workouts so that I can improve this weak area.

The diet was pretty good today – I had two cups of tea this morning with a whole-grain granola bar for breakfast. For lunch, I had an Asian Salad kit thing that I picked up at the grocery store. For dinner, I had salmon with mango salsa and a glass of wine.

After dinner, my husband and I went for a long walk. It’s interesting how the cure for ache and stiffness is more movement. The cause is the cure. I feel so much better now that I’ve been up and moving around. I’m out of epsom salts, so a hot bath will have to do. We’re also starting Oprah’s meditation challenge tonight, so the deep relaxation meditation provides may also help. Tomorrow is Plyometrics X – so I have to be ready to sweat!
