Policies + Disclosures

General Policies

I’m a crafter, an artist, and a beginner entrepreneur, and I don’t think it’s any big secret that I make a small income on the internet.  It’s nothing I try to hide, and in fact, I’m proud of it.  More people should do it. So long as it is done with honesty and integrity.

There’s nothing worse than the scammers, con artists, and scumbags out there pushing things like get rich quick schemes, fat blasting miracles, male enhancement pills, and other crap.  I promise never to do that.

However, I will occasionally review and endorse products on my blog.  In some cases, I may have received a free copy of the product in order to review it.  In some cases, I may decide to become an affiliate of the product. However, I do not accept payment for any product reviews, nor do I participate in link exchanges of any kind.

I may choose to become an affiliate of products which I believe are truly helpful to my readers, which means I may receive a commission on purchases made through any links I provide. However, any recommendations I provide are made first and foremost based on the merit of the product.  I make them either because of my true review of the product, the product’s value and quality, or based on my knowledge of the author’s expertise on the subject and his/her reputation. And, there are many times I talk about a product I like without any affiliate relationship with that product at all.

That said, beginning December 1, 2009, the FTC required bloggers to provide disclosures whenever there could be hidden interests or unspoken biases related to recommendations.

If I interview someone and they grab the bill for lunch, I would need to specify this, as I would if I use an Amazon link that gets me 8 cents instead of an Amazon link that gets me 0 cents. If someone gives me a cool t-shirt with a logo and I wear it in a photo, ditto. Disclaimers all over.

This would be tedious for me and a continual eye sore for readers. But rules is rules.

To cover my ass and preserve your reading experience, please assume that, for every recommendation, link, and product I use, the following all hold true:

While it certainly is not always the case, you should assume that I have an affiliate relationship and/or another material connection to the providers of goods and services mentioned on InspiringLiberation.com. You should always perform due diligence before buying goods or services from anyone via the Internet or offline.
