Rosary

This past spring, I prayed a rosary novena for some family members with alarming health challenges. I prayed this rosary on beads I was given more than two decades ago as a baptismal gift. The centerpiece of this rosary features St. Bernadette at the grotto with the Blessed Virgin Mary, where the spring of healing waters would gurgle forth, eventually becoming one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations – Lourdes. The other side of the medal has a vial that was once filled with the healing water of Lourdes, but has since drained out.

Golden Monstrance

A novena is a 9-day prayer, often to petition a saint. The prayers are just as often the identical prayer said on each day for nine days as they are different prayers said for each day of the novena. In the original 54-day rosary novena, there are three sets of novenas said in petition and three sets of novenas said in thanksgiving.

I first learned of the Miraculous 54-Day Rosary Novena from Mitch Horowitz in his book The Miracle Club. I was intrigued by its simplicity, ignoring the calendar and simply repeating the pattern of the joyful mysteries, the sorrowful mysteries, and the glorious mysteries, completely ignoring the more recent addition of the luminous mysteries.

While I had prayers answered with the Miraculous 54-day Rosary Novena, it felt like it was missing something. If anything, I didn’t like the lack of symmetry. I felt drawn to add another set of three novenas to make it a perfect 9 x 9.

Inspired by the work of Lynne McTaggart in her book The Power of Eight, I was reminded of how test subjects who prayed, or rather “intended” for others experienced “blowback” – resulting in their own personal miracles and transformations. I wondered if a similar outcome would follow if I added a third set of novenas and prayed for others.

As a (desperate) experiment, I added another set of three novenas dedicated totally to praying for others. I prayed for friends – their businesses, their pets, their burgeoning relationships, I prayed for family members and strangers I read about in the news, I prayed for the doctors and nurses helping my sick family member. In the end, I did receive an answer – a miraculous and instantaneous healing for my very sick family member.

Below, I have included a downloadable checklist to aid you in keeping track of your prayers. I present my Miraculous 81-Day Rosary Novena – may it work wonders for you and yours.
